UP Govt directs all shops to put on the ‘Nameplate’
The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has issued a directive stating that all food establishments and booths located along the Kanwar Yatra route in the state are required to prominently display the names of their proprietors.
This directive is intended to preserve the integrity of the religious beliefs of Kanwar pilgrims. The policy has generated controversy, with several critics denouncing it as discriminatory and an expression of Islamophobia. The government has also cautioned that it will take action against individuals who engage in the sale of products that possess Halal certification.
The decision has elicited a variety of responses, with some individuals endorsing it as a means to guarantee openness and integrity, while others denounce it as a polarizing and politically driven move.
